Suppress Phone Number Parsing on iOS
iOS Safari has worked hard to become the new headache browser for us all. A minor annoyance among ginormous problems is the fact that this masterwork of software engineering scans every website it displays for strings that have a chance of being a phone number of sorts. And that's a lot of strings.
This is another "comfort function" from Apple doing things with our website we don't want and only see in Safari. And even if the string actually is a phone number, who says we want it marked up as a link? What if it is a fax number? Should I call a fax machine from my mobile phone?
Fortunately you can suppress this behaviour with this little meta tag.
